One Take Wonder: Paralyzed by Perfection

Perfectionism is a Myth

True authenticity and vulnerability is about showing up 100% AS YOU ARE – all your flaws and crazy things you don’t like about yourself.

We all have a unique message to share and we all wear or live in different containers (body sizes, shapes, colours) and there is no perfect container.

I’m on a crusade this year to make an impact, and I decided to use video as my platform. I have this fear that I don’t want people to see me not looking my best.  And especially I didn’t want you to see me today because I don’t look PERFECT.  And then I thought, screw it – today is the PERFECT day to show you exactly as I am!

Watch here to see how I am showing you one of my most real and vulnerable things about me.

*Caution* – Adult language in this video

The struggle is real.

Paralyzed by the Perfection. It doesn’t matter what you do, the mental garbage takes hold.

  • You’re not good enough
  • You can’t do it
  • No one will listen to what I have to say
  • People will judge me

In a world of unrealistic improvised image paired with blown up egos and freedom of speech, we can internalize this and set a benchmark so high for ourselves, that perfect isn’t even obtainable.

What is it perfect anyways?

I looked it up on Urban Dictionary and this is what I found:

So, it is merely perception. Or perhaps an unrealistic standard to allow the excuse of fear keep us small.

What would it take for you to be real, or for you to be ok with EXACTLY who you are right in this exact moment? Is it an absence of judgment? Arrogant don’t give a crap attitude? Everyone to close their eyes or hope no one notices?

Perhaps.

Maybe it’s a true genuine acceptance of self that it doesn’t matter what happens, what other’s think, what you look like or how you show up.

Just SHOW UP, no matter what.

  • You’re BETTER than good enough!
  • You WILL do it and look back and say I DID THAT!
  • The ones that matter will take notice – even if you only help 1 person!
  • Yes, people will judge you! The beauty of that is – it’s none of your business what they think!!

Seems like it’s easier to say than to do, or is it? Well, I am putting my money where my mouth is and showing you a little vulnerability right here is that video. I know you will probably judge me. And you know what?? That’s OK! To me, it’s perfectly perfect. I chose to show up just as I am!

After doing this, I really have nothing to be afraid of. It’s ok to be seen… even imperfectly.

You too are truly beautiful as you are. Just let us see it. You can show up just exactly as you are.

P.S. Drop me a comment in my Facebook Group and let me know what you’ve been afraid to show the world.  Come on, I dare you.  If I can do it, so can you.

P.S.S. Confidence: Never underestimating what confidence can do for you.  It’s exhilarating, exciting, sexy, contagious and frightfully limitless.  (quote from my book Paralyzed)
